All regions south of the Zambezi and Cunene Rivers are classified as Southern Africa and include Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho and Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique south.
Habitats range from rainforest to desert, with grasslands, swamps and mountain ranges, cold and warm oceans and the Cape Fynbos floral kingdom.
It is therefore not surprising that Southern Africa is rich in birdlife, consisting of almost 900 species of which 160 species are complete/near endemics to the region.
